Last updated: October 13, 2026. Plain-English summary of what Crochet Shelf keeps and why.
On your phone only
- Your projects, progress, notes, reminders, yarn and hook stash, settings and photos are saved in your browser on your device. We never receive them.
- A backup file is created only when you tap "Save backup", and goes wherever you save it.
What we receive
- Pattern emails (homepage form): your email address, used only to tell you when new patterns go up. Unsubscribe any time.
- "Does it look like the preview?": your answer, the design name and the yarn size. No name, no photo.
- "Show other makers" (optional): the photo you choose, the first name or nickname you type, and the design. Every photo is reviewed before it's shown. Photos we don't publish are kept privately, not shown.
- Reading a pattern from a web link: the link is sent to our server so it can fetch the page for you. We don't store the link or the page.
Other services involved
- Netlify hosts the site and stores form answers and gallery photos. Like any web host it keeps standard request logs (such as IP addresses).
- Google Fonts and cdnjs (Cloudflare) supply fonts and the PDF/Word readers, so they see a normal request from your browser.
- Count by voice uses your browser's built-in speech recognition, which on most phones is processed by Google or Apple.
No ads, no tracking cookies, no analytics, and nothing is sold.
